FAQs
-
Photographers who are comfortable using their camera and want to take documentary storytelling seriously. You do not need to be published or work professionally, but you should be ready for independent fieldwork, thoughtful critique, and long days of making photographs.
-
Each workshop page lists its exact inclusions. For Iraq 2027, the fee includes hotels, breakfast, in-country transport with a driver, a trusted local guide, access and logistical support, and daily editing sessions. Flights, visas, travel insurance, personal expenses, and meals not listed in the programme are not included.
-
Workshops are limited to a maximum of 10 photographers. The small group gives everyone time for direct feedback while keeping fieldwork flexible and collaborative.
-
Bring a camera you know well, one or two practical lenses, a laptop with your preferred editing software, and enough storage for a daily backup. Comfortable clothing and walking shoes matter more than extra equipment. We send a destination-specific packing list before departure.
-
Most days begin with a short briefing before independent or guided fieldwork. We regroup later to edit, review the photographs, and decide what each story needs next. The schedule responds to access, local conditions, and the work being made.
-
Visa and entry requirements depend on the destination and your citizenship. We share current practical guidance after your place is confirmed, but each participant is responsible for securing the correct visa, passport validity, insurance, and any required permits.
-
A non-refundable deposit reserves your place, with the remaining balance due 60 days before the workshop begins. If you need to cancel, we will try to fill your place; any refund is governed by the booking terms for that workshop. Comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
